President / Founder of Word of Hope Christian Ministries Foundation, INC.

Dr. David A. Sobrepeña is the founding president and Senior Pastor of Word of Hope Christian Church, one of the largest born again, evangelical churches in the Philippines today with 43 satellite churches and a total of 74 services on any given Sunday planted in Manila and suburbs and over 7,000 Life Groups (cell groups).

Through his leadership, the church was able to establish Hope General Hospital, Hope Christian Academy, Hope Leadership Institute and Paradise Prayer Garden – a venue for retreats, summer camps weddings, sports, and recreation. Recently, with the help of God, he was able to realize his dream of establishing HOPE, Inc.-- a microfinance enterprise that will help empower the urban poor through job and livelihood opportunities.

He has served with excellence in the leadership of the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God for many years. In August 2016, he was recently re-elected as National President and General Superintendent of the PGCAG. He has also served the country's Evangelical movement as Chairman of the Board of Philippine Council of the Evangelical Churches (PCEC), and Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS), and as a Board Member of the Philippine Bible Society.

Dr. Sobrepeña is being used mightily by God in spreading the Good News of salvation not only in the Philippines but also in many countries around the world. He has traveled to six continents in the world to speak in Christian Leadership Conferences, Missions Conventions, Camps and Evangelistic Crusades. He is passionate about reaching the lost with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. As a result of his passion to win people for Christ, he purchased a Gospel bus and a Gospel boat for evangelism, church planting, medical missions, and Operation Hope (relief operations).

He is also a member of the leadership team of the Billion Soul Network, whose vision is to win 1 Billion people to Christ and to plant 5 Million Churches worldwide. He serves as Co-Chairman for Church Planting. He has served as National Director for EQUIP Philippines as well as Head Coordinator for EQUIP in Asia-Pacific, an organization founded by Dr. John C. Maxwell, providing Christian leadership training worldwide.

In 2012, he was inducted to the EQUIP Leadership Hall of Fame — a Leadership Award of the highest honors given to selected Christian leaders worldwide. He held this position from 1999 to 2015 until EQUIP transitioned from the original Million Leader’s Mandate to its present vision of transformation. He and his EQUIP team has trained over 400,000 Christian leaders in the Philippines and other Asian countries.

He and his wife, Lydia has three grown-up children - Dexter Mark, Janelle Pearl, and David Glen. They are enjoying life as grandparents to 5 beautiful and handsome children.
